Joop!

Joop was created by the German, Wolfgang Joop. He was born in 1944 in Potsdam, Germany. Wolfgang Joop began his career when his wife at the time entered a beauty contest in 1970. He is one of Germany's most recognised designers and one with a unique signature. His last name, Joop, is a Dutch first name meaning ‘masculine’. He started to employ it as his trademark back in 1979. Instead of using his first name, he simply added an exclamation point, which has come to stand for innovation and creative energy. The brand that now bears his name comprises a universe of products for men, women and children.

Joop began his career as a talented freelance artist and held a professorship at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin, Germany. 1987 was a historic year for Joop, it was the year of the first JOOP! Fragrance, as well as the launch of his first men’s and women’s collection. Joop jeans were released in 1988. Over the following years the product line was consistently enlarged and the JOOP! brand expanded with eyewear, shoes, accessories, leatherwear, body-and knitwear, both for men and women. The JOOP! fashion world was finally rounded off with the introduction of the licenses for hosiery, kids, time, socks and jewellery. The JOOP! Gmbh presented its first home collection, JOOP! living at the 1999 Franfurter Herbstmesse. Today, all partners collaborate closely with the designer Wolfgang Joop in order to ensure the consistent look and high quality for which JOOP! products are known. The Joop! Brand have become inventive and created a large line of designer clothing, perfume and cosmetics company founded by German fashion designer Wolfgang Joop. It is based in Hamburg, Germany. The company is most notable for its aftershave range.

Since then JOOP! The brand has over 26 perfumes. The range has been released from 1987 with latest releases being brought out today in year 2010. Joop! fragrances include Joop! Femme, All About Eve, Jet, Jump and others. Wolfgang’s daughter, Jette, produces her own line of fragrances, including Jette, By Night Jette and Dark Sapphire.
