Narciso Rodriguez

Narciso Rodriguez born in 1961 in New Jersey is a Cuban-American fashion designer. Rodriguez realised at a young age that he would become a professional designer. His father did not approve of that decision because he wanted Narciso to become a doctor.

Narciso Rodriguez completed his formal education at the famous Parson’s School of Design in New York. Following freelance work In New York’s garment industry, he joined Anne Klein under Donna Karan and later Clavin Klein designing women’s ready to wear.

In 1995, Rodriguez became design director where he presented ready to wear collections for men and women in New York. Simultaneously Rodriguez was appointeddirector of Cerruti in Paris. Narciso received worldwide attention when he designed the wedding dress that Carolyn Bassette would wear when she married John Kennedy Jr.

In October 1997 Rodriguez inaugurated his own label, the "Narciso Rodriguez" brand in partnership with the Italian manufacturer Aeffe for the ready to women’s collection that was presented in Milan for spring/summer collection 1998 season.

Narciso Rodriguez is the first designer in history to receive the women wear designer of the year award by the council of Fashion Designers of America consecutively in 2002 and 2003.

His style is American with a european influence and latin at heart. Rodriguez masters to perfection the art of precise streamlined tailoring to serve a practical style. With a european influence, both the traditional and vitality of the “haute couture” which have been a source of inspiration for Narciso Rodriguez.
