Quicksilver

Quicksilver was founded in 1970 by two aussie surfers Alan Green and John Law in Torquay, (Victoria Australia). The redesigning of the board shorts by using durable light fabric that dried super quickly, with the forgiving waist band and velcro for snap closure gave birth the world famous brand for all you water and surfing apparel and needs, Qiucksilver. Alan and John sold the shorts to fellow surfers and local surf shops.

In 1976 Jeff Hakman and Bob Mcknight bought the rights to produce Quicksilver board shorts and other apparel under them nae in the USA. Becoming a success in the USA the brand expanded into other products, perfume, swimsuits, swimwear, t-shirts, accessories, ski and snowboarding products.

Quicksilver is one of the world's largest manufacturers of surfwear and other board sport-related equipment. Since its launch Quicksilver has shown continue growth under the brand and other brands that have been introduced by the surfwear company.

The company's DC and Hawk brands are also synonymous with the heritage and culture of surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding, its beach and water-oriented swimwear brands include Raisins and Radio Fiji. Quiksilver also carries a line of high-end apparel and accessories under its Quiksilver Edition brand. The company also produces a line of apparel for young women, under the brand Roxy.

In 2005, the company launched The Quicksilver Foundation, a charitable foundation which works to provide environmental, educational, health and youth-related projects to board riding communities around the world.

Quiksilver operates over 500 stand-alone stores in major cities across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, Europe, America, Asia and Africa. Quiksilver sponsors amateur and professional surfers, snowboarders, skiers, and skateboarders. Among them are surfer Kelly Slater, snowboarder Travis Rice and skateboarder Tony Hawk.
